BMW Connected Classic App Reviews

Nice app however we are in 2016: today a lot of people use navigation apps instead of using the Bmw default one, you should add more Bmw apps in this app as Tomtom, Google Maps, Waze (introducing a mirroring system similar to miracast would be wonderful). It would also be nice to let people without the Bmw navigation system installed to use those apps with Bmw ConnectedDrive. Also, as someone said before, you should add Bluetooth support for this app. Last but not least Bluetooth audio does not work if this app is connected with a usb cable (all Bluetooth audio from other apps is automatically turned off and you have to disconnect the phone to get audio working again ) I would expect more from a Bmw App. Thanks

DO NOT DOWNLOAD. I have a 2012 335i sedan and this latest "classic" version of the Connected app doesnt work with my car whatsoever. Additionally, other apps that used to work with my car such as Pandora or Rhapsody no longer work either. iTunes songs still function normally, so its not a hardware issue. I called the BMW Genius line and they concluded its this version of the app at fault. Terrific. I wish I never downloaded this thing.

Are BMWs made by Hyundai now? First, they cutoff apps, BMW Assist plans, concierge service and tech support for vehicles more than three model years old - leaving vehicle owner stranded and with functionless digital menu items in their cars - and now, this digital waste of space IOS app. It barely works which is actually consistent with everything else BMW is putting out these days. Time for an Audi! BMW=junk

Does not consistently work (no matter if I start it before or after car is on and parked). BMWs interface is not convenient to use either. Almost not worth using and bmw tech package may not be worth the cost, if app does not improve BMW built in tech. Prefer to use Amazon Music instead of iTunes but Amazon needs to be accessed with this app to get to this music. Havent really used other apps

Come on BMW! BMW Connect didnt work great before - messaging never worked, for example - but it worked somewhat (e.g. Pandora, Audible). But after most recent update on iPhone7 does not work at all with my 2013 550ix. First, do no harm. Achtung!! Lets see some of that legendary German engineering.

You will be sorry you did. I would have given the previous version two stars, and. Would give zero to the update if I could. Constantly crashes, I never know if it is going to work or not. When I try to switch from spotify over to he BMW web radio app, the entire connected drive crashes and then I cant get it to restart. The older version was limited but at least predictable. I have spent hours on the phone with the genius team, and their main suggestion was to use a new cable. I bought my car (2015 4 series) in part for the iPhone interface and I could not be more disappointed. I really regret upgrading. It made things worse.

After such an amazing brand experience with Bimmers for the past 10 years, this goes against everything that keeps me loyal to the brand. Makes my normally fun and exciting drive more frustrating. I tend to just leave music off and ride with the windows down now. Disappointing.

I was going to consider using it since the latest update states it will run in the background....got s bit excited... Then nothing! Disappointed! Oh well I will continue streaming my music over Bluetooth. PS... All those people stating "Im considering leaving BMW over this..." Really???? Get a life! The silly app doesnt work! Big deal....

I agree with all the negative reviews on here, for all the same reasons. This app is a stain upon the BMW brand and a complete disservice to loyal BMW customers.

The only reason o downloaded this app is because I could use Facebook with it. Now the FB app is gone! REALLY??? DONE!

Does anyone even test this app with BMW media cradle for iPhone? In version 2.4, it would take couple of minutes for the menu to show. Latest 2.5 version does not work in the background (despite the update states it does). Here is current 2.5 behaviour, connect iPhone to cradle, go to connected drive, click additional apps - you get a message BMW connected app must be running; open compartment, click the phone start button, click BMW Connected app or remove the phone from cradle, start the app, then connect again. Not only this is unsafe when driving, but it is a hassle dealing with this issue. And talking about additional apps, can you add some useful apps like Waze instead of apps nobody has heard of like EnLighten. Desperately needs bug fixing or outsource it (as other reviewer below mentioned).

One thing that BMW might forgot to mention was that in order for the updated app to work, the car needs to have the software updated as well. I also downloaded the new app with excitement that it will work with the app running in the background and was disappointed when it didnt. I checked and there is actually a software update for the car as well. Once I updated the car software, things started to work beautifully (i.e., I can listen to pandora in my car while the app is running in the background, using USB connection). So it does work but the updates need to happen on both the phone and the car. And when connecting through bluetooth, the artwork will change with the song as well now.

Connected drive portal is not working as expected. even this app is not working. its BMW. You guys need to have quality apps. I didnt expect this from BMW.

The most useless app out there, all categories. & Ive used thousands. BMW - stop embarrassing yourself. Just remove the app

An Amazingly low end app from a company that prides itself on high end technology. This app requires a hard wired connection to the car. It also requires some time before the car recognizes that the phone and app are available through the usb cable.
